Netherlands to enforce normal weekly rest taken in the cabin

The Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate enforces the prohibition on taking the regular weekly rest period in the vehicle.

Taking the weekly rest period of 45 hours in the vehicle is prohibited by law*.

Any violation of this prohibition is subject to a fine of EUR 1,500. The employer is responsible for observing this provision and for
enabling drivers to return to the place where they are based or to provide the driver sufficient facilities to take their rest.

So as to prevent being fined,  Inspectorate  advises drivers to inform to inform their employer ofthis prohibition, allowing them to implement suitable measures.
