Transition of ECR Presidency Germany - Poland

On the 4th and 5th June 2019 the ECR Steering Committee met in the Headquarter of the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG) in Cologne, hosted by previous German presidency as part of its last meeting while handing over the ECR presidency to Poland. BAG Vice-President Christian Hoffmann opened the meeting and welcomed all present guests with a speech that emphasized the important cooperation of the ECR members in European freight transport.

The main element of the meeting included the procedure already underway in the EGTC (European Grouping for Territorial Cooperation) process. Two further working groups on technical roadside inspection as well as cargo securing were approved.

In addition to the extensive agenda Germany handed over the presidency to Poland. At the invitation of the German Presidency, members from following countries were represented: the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Croatia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Slovenia and the recent member Spain. Present were also the ECR General Delegate, General Secretary of the Benelux and the ECR Coordinator. Furthermore, a representative from Norway provided a presentation introducing the Norwegian Ministry of Transport, as Norway has previously announced their interest in ECR membership.
