Second study visit organized by the General Inspectorate of Road Transport

One of the main goals of the Polish Presidency in the Euro Contrôle Route (ECR) is to increase the number of countries within the organization, which will enable undertaking more effective measures to improve road safety and transport. A two-day study visit of a representative of the State Police of Latvia facilitated the exchange of knowledge and expertise in the field of road transport control.

Urszula Nowinowska, the President of ECR, has given a lecture on international cooperation of the countries associated within the organization and discussed ECR’s activities and priorities. Statistical data on the activities of Polish Road Transport Inspection on the international forum were also presented.

At the checkpoint of the Mazovian Road Transport Inspection on the national DK7 road just outside Warsaw, the Latvian delegate had an invaluable opportunity to observe the specifics of roadside checks conducted by Polish inspectors and the specialised equipment used during such activities. A vehicle for performing controls of automatic toll collection system was also presented.

The second day of the visit was devoted to the examination of the technical condition of city buses at the Warsaw bus terminus with the use of the cutting-edge mobile diagnostic station from the Silesian Road Transport Inspection.

The study visit was an excellent chance to present opportunities for cooperation and its benefits for inspectors and services responsible for the control of heavy transport in the countries associated within the ECR structures.
