Multilateral Exchange Germany - Hanover May 2023

Multilateral Exchange in Germany from the 8th until 12th of May The Federal Logistics and Mobility Office (BALM) and 21 guests from ECR member countries experienced a week of successful cooperation in the field of roadside controls covering topics such as dimensions and weights, load securing and more.

The Hanover branch organised from the 8th- 12th of May 2023, during the week around Europe Day on May 9th, a multilateral exchange of inspectors from a total of nine European partner countries of the ECR. Europe Day is an annual commemoration day celebrating unity and peace in Europe and commemorates the birth of the European Union in 1950, when Robert Schuman presented his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe.

In the spirit of this goal, the participants were very successful in this year's theoretical and practical exchange in the Hanover region at checkpoints along the German highway A 2: During the joint mobile operations over two days, the controls with the focus on dimensions/weights and load securing under road traffic law brought interesting results to light.

At the same time, the colleagues from the partner authorities also got to know the new digital control technology in the BALM vehicles and, during joint rides with the German inspectors, were convinced of their practical and supportive use in selecting vehicles to be controlled in flowing traffic.

Overall 36% of the 63 controlled vehicles on both days had complaints and inspection reports were produced, some of the latter in cooperation with the very interested guests from the international partner authorities.
